Weddings at Juniper Barn

Juniper Barn is an exclusive hire rustic wedding barn set on a private estate in County Sligo.
Juniper offers three gorgeous barns on an historic estate. One for ceremonies, one for dining and one for dancing and partying. There’s also an option for an outdoor woodland ceremony.

For most of the year, our barns are part of the working farm storing wood, hay and farm equipment but during the summer, for a limited number of exclusive events, we transform the barns into a unique events space. Our Turf Barn, Wood Barn and Swallow Barn are set on a private 200 acre estate so they are exclusively yours for your special day. This means you will have a truly unique experience, unlike hotels or other venues. Adjacent to the barns is the family home of the Kitchin family as well as mature gardens, walled garden, vegetable garden, woodlands and a lake brimming with wildlife.

Juniper offers a canvas to people for the location of their event. Juniper Barn consists of three unique barns, all original stone barns with exposed wooden rafters and traditional slate roof. The Turf Barn is located in the Kitchen Yard and is ideal for beautiful ceremonies surrounded by natural stone and soft lighting. Original timber doors and windows, a wooden ‘altar’ and candles create a truly atmospheric space for special occasions and ceremonies.

The Wood Barn is a short stroll through the gardens in the Georgian courtyard and seats 100 comfortably on long handmade wooden trestle tables. This barn has a beautiful setting adjacent to mature woodlands and the lake for those all important photos.

Attached to the Wood Barn on another side of the courtyard is the Swallow Barn where you can enjoy evening activities. All the barns are double height with exposed wooden rafters, fires and beautiful stone. Each barn reflects it’s original farm use and even the original hay racks have been maintained as a unique feature!

Juniper Barn is accessed through the original gates and tree lined avenue. Our typical capacity is 50-100 people. Our professional staff and members of the Kitchin family will take care of all your needs for your event. We would welcome enquiries for whatever event you may be considering.

Ceremonies at Juniper Barn
You are welcome to hold your private wedding ceremony at Juniper in our wedding barn in our beautiful woodland ceremony space. The choice is yours!
The Turf Shed is a popular choice for indoor wedding ceremonies with its natural stone walls, candles and exposed wooden rafters. The Turf Shed has a sound system, altar and arched doorways that can be decorated or left simply as is.
Outdoor wedding ceremonies may be held in the woodland glade which offers a green canopy of leaves overhead, bluebells in May and nothing but birdsong to listen to.
There are also many local churches to serve all your religious needs.

Food and Drink
We pride ourselves on encouraging the use of organic and locally sourced produce. There are a variety of local suppliers available to work with your chosen caterer.
We have a small panel of recommended caterers who are only too happy to cater for you. This is an additional cost to the venue hire. After you have made your catering decisions, we take over and liaise with the catering team to make it all happen.
We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to bring your own wine and drinks for the reception and dinner. These will be served by your caterer and we make no corkage charge for this.
Your wine can be arranged to be delivered directly to us and stored with us until your event day at no extra charge. This is a cost effective way of ensuring you have excellent wine available for your guests. Joe in The Wine Buff Sligo will look after your needs.

Accommodation
The Lodge
Our delightful gatelodge sleeps two in luxury and is a popular choice with wedding couples for their wedding night. Tucked in behind the original walls of the estate, the lodge has a wood-fired stove, underfloor heating, Foxford bedlinen and private garden with mature trees, herbs, chairs and a firepit for starlit evenings. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Temple House

Carmen and Robert’s House
The original estate house and courtyard, predating Juniper Barn, has been recently renovated to provide a luxury four-bedroom guest house. This sleeps eight and is located 1km from Juniper Barn – perfect for guests who want to stay nearby for a few days. This house acts as the ideal self-catering base and enables people to cook, sleep and relax in luxury. This house is available to rent on airbnb
